Deciding To Start An Alternate Character On Wow – Warrior Or Paladin ?

I will be using my level 80 Hunter to help out with gold, armor and weapons. Im looking to do mailny DPS but also the occasional tanking. Also how about a druid?

From my experiences of WoW, I can give you some helpful information although It’s best if you make the final decision.
    **Warrior**
    Pros:
    – Best tank in a group environment (easiest aggro-keeping, somewhat better mitigation than paladin or dk tanks)
    – Fury (in 3.2) , if geared properly (Hit>Crit>AP) will put out more melee dps than any paladin or druid at the same gear level.
    Cons:
    – (From personal XP) If you level your character as fury and then Duel-Spec into prot at 80, you will need to go through a considerable learning curve.
    – Somewhat worse raid bonus advantages compared to paladin and druid (Lack of long-lasting buffs).
    – Somewhat harder to solo with (lack of healing capabilities).
    – Somewhat worse than druids and paladins in PvP – Don’t get me wrong, warriors can defiantly be good at PvP but in 1v1 situations (namely BGs and Duels) without healing warriors will die faster than hybrids or will need far more resilience than their opponent(s)
    – Large gear competition amongst plate-wearers.
    **Paladin**
    Pros:
    – Can perform all 3 crucial tasks in a raid (Heal, Tank, Dps) quite well; not to mention one non-crucial task (Cleanser – which seems to be far less important compared to the old 40man days).
    – Most 25 mans (and some 10 mans) will want to have at least 3 paladins for their blessings, hence somewhat higher demand of them.
    – Very potent buffs and dispelling abilities (You won’t be able to remove curses though)
    – Even if you’re not a tank you will have somewhat better survivability compared to other classes.
    Cons:
    – Retribution paladins (3.2) using their regular rotations and SoC (Seal of Corruption NOT COMMAND) will have a hard time out-dpsing other meele dps specs (Fury, Unholy, etc.) even if they are geared properly and at the same gear level
    – 5% (or 3%, I forget) damage reduction due to being a hybrid class (Shamans, Druids, Paladins and I think DKs [Not sure]).
    – Protection paladins have a somewhat harder time maintaining aggro compared to Warrior and DK tanks
    – Large gear competion amongst platers (for DPS)
    **Druid**
    Pros:
    – Can perform all 3 crucial tasks in a raid (Heal, Tank, Dps).
    – Excellent caster dps as a Boomkin (Balance druid). Boomkins have very potent DoTs aswell as direct damage.
    – Highly potent/desireable buffs
    – Immune to OR can shapeshift out of most DoTs or “movement impairing effects”
    – Very easy to solo (proven)
    – All-around very potent PvP class, being able to adapt to most situations and throw quick HoTs between shapeshifts.
    Cons:
    – Moderate meele dps (feral cat) compared to other meele dps at the same gear level due to being a hybrid among other things.
    – Somewhat worse performance as a tank compared to other specs (Warrior>Paladin>DK>Druid) (as tank).
    – Hybrid damage reduction
    – Basically whenever you’re fighting you never get to see your gear because you look like a frikkin’ animal

Paladin of course warriors have become obsolete by the new Death Knights, they have crazy heals and do equivalent damage as warriors. Plaladins are the most over powered character in the game retribution spec will maximize dps and utilities. and can they be their own healers!!
Warriors can have 2 two handed weps if speced right and this is the about as good as they get… however at lvl 80 they were given a heal to keep up this the rest.
Bottom line im a rogue lvl 80 and i make short work of warriors…
Paladins are the bane of my world (of warcraft) they have over 10 sec worth of stuns can be immune to movement impairing efects, awesome heals. Overview-they are damn hard to kill.
Warriors i just spam DoT on them and crippling poison and stand back and watch them bleed to death… Very entertaining

hahaha i have a pally and am lvling a hunter now
    id go with pally
but im bias i have one lol
i just dont like how a hunter is set up
    its weird for me
pally to hunter was a smooth change so im sure hunter to pally will be too
    druids are awesome
i play horde, i hate tauren thats why i didnt pick druid
but im a girl so i only hate them cause of looks
    druids are more useful
    u can tank and heal
and considering u have dps, id do that
but if u like dps do the pally

well actually i don’t have a warrior but i do know they are primarily used for tanking and pulling. pallys can be good dps on a slight scale but really if you want fully dedicated DPS then your answer is either a Rogue or a Mage. Mages can do AoE damage as well. Rogues cannot.
Warriors or Paladins are known for pretty much tanks. Druids is really an all around class.

Warriors, Paladins and Druids are all capable of DPS and tanking. I know that doesn’t help narrow it down for you, but at least you have more options!
If your main focus is DPS, I think Warriors and Druids are a little better…but Paladins can also heal (as can Druids).
So if you want to be more well-rounded, with a focus on DPS, try a druid.

You described a druid to the T when talking about your wants. The bear / cat forms are great for taking and dps respectively. Depending on the spec you can get some nice heals / armor buffs for you allies. Try a druid I think you’ll like it.

I’d go druid but thats just my opinion 1. is you can spec them feral and still beable to tank as well as dps. Rather than a pally prot is their tanking spec and ret is their dps spec.
